Kjeld Stub

Kjeld Stub (b.1946) is a very gifted and charismatic artist from Bergen. He calls upon his two differing educations, Art and Music (he is also a concert pianist specializing in Edvard Grieg) in creating his extremely special art.

His art is recognized by its ultra-aesthetic, musical abstract coloured compositions. Kjeld himself, though, adds that his motives are naturalistic – that they are fragments of nature, “Take a small frame, without canvas, and place it in front of a rock or above ground. Imagine that it just rained, but is now sunny. Those are the textures and play of colour I try to recreate.”

Kjeld is also an expert in linocuts, especially with the so-called ‘unique linocuts’ where only one or two examples are created.
