Reidar Fritzvold

Reidar Ritzvold is widely regarded as the one of the greatest depictors of Norwegian nature of the last century. He paints in the expressionist style with stark truthful colour. His motives may vary but are always based on the solid and real aspects of Norwegian landscapes. He does not ‘copy’ this landscape, rather he envelopes himself within it and then paints with the feeling of devotion and respect that it deserves. His respect and love for what is real, commonplace and Norwegian, is what identifies his art.
